Smedvig Capital is the London arm of the Smedvig Family Office and invests in private markets assets on behalf of the Smedvig family and other select family offices. Founded by Johnny Hewett and Peter Smedvig, we’ve been investing since 1996 with a particular focus on Private Equity and Venture Capital.

Deep Understanding

Since 1996 Smedvig Capital’s London office has committed nearly $2.5bn to private equity. We invest both directly, typically as lead investor in growth stage businesses across UK, Nordics, BeNeLux and DACH, and as limited partner in a carefully selected group of private equity and venture capital managers, across different geographies and strategies.

As long term investors in the space, we understand well both GP and LP perspectives, which has enabled us to develop deep and lasting relationships with some of the world’s most respected and consistently high performing managers over the course of the last three decades.

We maintain a concentrated portfolio of managers that share our focus on value creation and that demonstrate an ability to make fundamental strategic shifts across their portfolios, both to maximise value at an operating level and to adapt to changing market dynamics.
